The most romantic thing ever
It must have been around two years ago. I was looking to buy a car on facebook’s marketplace. I had found one some five hours away, everything sounded good and I was planning on going there to buy it. But then I just remembered that I never asked about the last time the oil was changed. So I call this girl up and ask her about when the oil was last changed. And… It wasn’t! That poor engine had went several years without an oil change. And not a small distance either. So I politely aborted the whole thing and eventually settled on another car.
Anyway, what I didn’t tell you was that this girl was CUTE! She might not have been a car mechanic, but she was VERY cute. From that day, she was always on my facebook’s “People you may know”-list. This went on for two fucking years. Now, I’m not a stalker, but if I were, this would have been the girl LOL. Instead, I’d check her photos out every now and then, wondering what she might be like as a person.
I mean, I was unhappily married here, so dream I could do, but to contact someone? Nah, not my thing.
But as fate would have it, a divorce appeared in my space-continuum! Now, I’m not religious, but if I were, I’d say god shined his rays upon me on this one.
Now I was not longer unhappily married. Now I was happily unmarried. I let that sink in for a few months. Truth to be told, it was pretty intense as it involved quitting my job, moving to another city (with my ex-wife, still co-living), beginning a new education etc.
For fun, I decided to take a motorcycle license. When I finally got it, I had already decided on what bike I wanted. And here comes the fun part! I found two of those on marketplace. One somewhat close to me, and one pretty far away from me. But the one pretty far away from me, it had one potential upside: It was close to this cute girl who I almost bought a car from, two years earlier.
So I messaged this girl and essentially told her that I almost bought a car from her two years earlier, that I thought she was cute and that I was planning on passing by her hometown in a week or so and asked if she would like to have a coffee with me.
She DID want to have a coffee with me! And we have been meeting each other for a couple of months now. And to top that off: She is every bit as wonderful as a person as she is cute.
I mean, I’m not a very romantic guy. I would never scatter rose petals on a bed and shit. But THIS, this is pretty fucking romantic if you ask me.
